How they connect
How these jobs fit together on a real house
The order rarely changes. The source gets stopped, standing water gets extracted, soaked materials that cannot be saved come out, and then structural drying runs until moisture readings show the structure is dry. Mold prevention runs alongside all of it, because in this climate growth is a real risk whenever drying falls behind.
The source decides how careful the work must be. Water from a clean supply line is treated very differently from flood water or a sewage backup, both of which are treated as contaminated. Raised homes add a further step, since crawlspace drying deals with the insulation, soil and framing beneath the floor. Storm leaks and burst pipes each have their own hidden paths through ceilings and walls.
Choosing
Three questions that point to the right page
- Did the water come from a clean pipe, from outdoors or from a drain? Start with that, because it sets the precautions.
- Is the house on a slab or raised on piers? Raised homes usually need work under the floor as well.
- Is anything still wet after several days? If so, read about drying and mold prevention next.
